Miptv Ends In-Person Edition, Confirms Dates for 2023 and the Return of a Super-Sized Mipcom

The event’s organization revealed Miptv 2022 gathered over 5000 attendees and already confirmed it will return in 2023 on April 17-20. In addition, they announced Mipcom will come back in October with a “super-sized” edition, with an expanded showcase aimed at creators.

After three days of activities and presentations, Miptv 2022 has come to an end. And while the marketplace was smaller than in previous editions and attendance wasn’t as high, the event closed an overall successful return to its in-person format.

All in all, Reed Exhibitions, organizers of the event, announced Miptv 2022 welcomed over 5,000 delegates from 80 countries, with over 150 exhibitors and 1200 buyers, in addition to around 300 people who followed the event online.

The organization has already confirmed Miptv will be back in 2023 in a three-day format and unveiled the dates: April 17-20.

And what’s maybe the most important announcement of the day, the organization announced that Mipcom will return in a super-sized format in October.

Lucy Smith, director of Mipcom and Miptv, spoke to attendees at the Palais in a press conference on Wednesday, and said that “the majority of our major exhibitors at what was our last normal Mipcom in 2019 have already confirmed that they will not only be back, but in full force for 2022 – in the Palais and beyond.”

According to the executive, Mipcom 2022 will expand on its industry showcase aimed at creators, showrunners and producers. “This is the concept that we introduced at Mipcom last October […] and we plan to build on this as an ever-growing part of the future footprint of Mipcom,” she said.

“As more and more creative executives come to Cannes from production companies, their feedback is that this kind of multi-purpose destination for meetings, creative sessions and events in the heart of the market is something they value and need, ” she added.

Smith also confirmed MIPJunior will return as a separate event, returning to its “regular format, two days prior to Mipcom over the weekend at the JW Marriott”.

“The kids industry [executives] we have been meeting here are hugely excited, want to come back, and have got big launches planned, and it will keep its place in the calendar,” she added.

The executive also took the opportunity to talk about what this year’s Miptv left behind in terms of trends and overall talking points, highlighting topics such as the consolidation of the market, the increased demand for content around the world, and the rise of international series.
