On an atypical day for one of the oldest markets in the audiovisual industry, Miptv reopened its doors at the Palais des Festivals, doing so for the last time in Cannes, and as a prelude to what will be its new headquarters in London in 2025 under its new name, MIP London.

The first day of Miptv started with timid movement. There are many companies missing for this latest edition of the traditional event. However, a smart decision has been to concentrate the stand space in the Riviera7 of the Palais des Festivals, making the movement in the corridors perceived almost as that of a regular event.

Logically, the big absences are noticeable. But it is not surprising for an event that has seen a decline in its number of attendees for several years now.

On the other hand, and making up for absences through major presentations, the Turkish companies, as well as the delegations from China, Japan, Canada and Spain, showed great prominence throughout this first day.

Several distribution presentations have been announced today.

Global Agency is presenting One Love, its next great drama, which will also be presented tomorrow Tuesday in a press conference with part of the cast, and which will close the day with an exclusive party for guests.

In the afternoon, inside the Palais des Festivals itself, Kanal D presented Secret of Pearls, the Turkish company’s new drama released on January 25 with great success, unveiling images of this new production for the international market. .

Inter Medya also highlighted one of its latest productions, Like there is no tomorrow, which reaches the international market with great expectations.

Globo, meanwhile, reached the international market with great new releases and remakes, as is the case of Pantanal, which is having a great reception in different international markets.

Fabio Mauro, Content Distribution and Partnerships at Globo, said: “Very focused on territories such as Europe, Asia and the Middle East, which are the territories that seek local adaptation of Globo’s greatest hits.”

Regarding the future of the sector, Denny Kaplan of The Kitchen, highlighted the opening of a new era of work for companies linked to dubbing and subtitling of new content, which is why she is confident that the changes that are taking place in the industry and technologies based on artificial intelligence “represent a new area of research that keeps us super motivated and with great expectations for the future.”

Regarding the talks that have been offered throughout this day, the keynote: Back To The Future Bridging the Past and Present to Shape Tomorrow’s TV Landscape stands out, by Mark Endemano, Partner & MD of Alix Partners, who offered some data about the future of media consumption, the use of AI and the particular interest that the most classic franchises are receiving in the search for new income.

For its part, the traditional Fresh TV Formats conference presented by The WIT had the largest number of attendees of the day, always highlighting those contents that, due to their originality and impact, show the greatest point of interest for global audiences.

The day closed with the traditional opening party at the Majestic hotel.
