NBCUniversal announced a rebranding for its international production arm.

NBCUniversal announced in the last hours a rebranding for its international production arm, NBCUniversal International Studios, which will now be known as Universal International Studios.

The name change responds to a need for the brand to be aligned with the rest of the company’s studios: Universal Studio Group, UCP, Universal Television and Universal Television Alternative Studio.

NBCUniversal International Global Distribution, meanwhile, will not change its name.

The formerly known as NBCUniversal International Studios encompass production companies such as Carnival Films, Monkey Kingdom and Working Title Television, while also having a stake in Lark Productions.

“We want the market to know that we are Universal,” explained Pearlena Igbokwe, President of Universal Studio Group.

“With a unified studio group we have access to enviable resources within the NBCUniversal ecosystem. Therefore, our international studio will now be more aligned than ever and positioned to exploit the global potential of our four studio divisions,” she added.
