Exhibiting with an all new, larger booth (P-1.D50), Nippon TV, Japan’s leading multiplatform entertainment powerhouse, announced today that the company will head to Mipcom with two new scripted formats and one new unscripted format. In addition, the company’s business reality competition format Money or Junk will be featured in this year’s Treasure Box Japan. The announcement was made today by Mikiko Nishiyama, Executive Vice President of International Business Development, Nippon TV.

First up is a long awaited exciting new script from the creators of Nippon TV’s mega-hit drama series Mother and WomanMy Life for my Children-, titled Love with a Case (60min. eps.). Love with a Case is a suspense dramedy series that follows four members of the police who actually have no rights to investigate but somehow solve complex cases with their unique sense in perception and deductive reasoning that is unconventional for common detectives.

Next is Home Tutor (60min. eps.), a mysterious but intensely satisfying scripted drama series where a peculiar home tutor guides her students in unique ways, teaching how to use money wisely in order to survive the harsh reality that exists in the world. This series is from the creators of Nippon TV’s award-winning drama series, I’m Mita, Your Housekeeper.

On the unscripted side, Time Potion (60min. eps.) is an innovative and exhilarating new high concept game show format where time is the ultimate ruler and contestants must fight across three stages while their “life” starts to tick away. “Drink it to survive” is the unique essence of the show; bottles containing “time potion” are scattered around in the game universe and upon achieving a challenge, the contestants gain the chance to drink the potion, which will extend their lives in the game.

Furthermore, Nippon TV’s unscripted format Money or Junk (60min. – 120min. eps.) will be featured at Mipcom’s Treasure Box Japan, the Japanese Formats Showcase. Unveiled at Mipcom Online last year, Money or Junk has been upscaled and a new episode successfully aired during primetime in May on Nippon TV and is setting a trend in the industry as a new type of business reality competition format. Contestants compete to make real money out of anything, through actual e-commerce apps, all while being taken to a remote location where resources are scarce. Treasure Box Japan will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022, at 16:30 at the Hi5-Studio in the Palais de Festival.

“With the continued global success of our drama formats Mother and Woman -My Life for my Children-, we are delighted to be offering our newest and long-awaited scripted drama series Love with a Case from the same creators and show runners. The script is Sakamoto at his best, depicting each relatable character in depth, unveiling mysteries foreshadowed earlier in the story and making the series unmissable, episode after episode. Home Tutor is a thrilling and intense series for viewers living in new life standards post-Covid, where a peculiar home tutor teaches how to deal with one of the most important elements of life: money,” commented Nishiyama. “We are also very excited to introduce Time Potion for the first time to the international market. It is the ultimate time-battle game show with a surprising twist where the contestant can drink a special potion in order to gain more game survival time.”

Added Nishiyama, “Having had success this spring as the only Japanese TV format creators that exhibited with a booth at Miptv 2022, I am also happy to announce that we are relocating to our new prime location in the Palais (P-1.D50). We welcome all friends and clients to come and experience our new home in Cannes and jointly create an atmosphere that will lead to the further success of our industry.”
