The Telemundo Global Studios and Keshet International political drama reached 1.3 million total viewers in its premiere, making Telemundo the leading Hispanic network in its timeslot.

The premiere of the new series, Preso No. 1 on Telemundo, reached 633,000 viewers 18 to 49 and 1.3 million total viewers, outperforming other Spanish-language networks at 10:00pm.

The political-drama premiere out delivered the combined viewership of Unimas and Univision by +28% among adults 18-49 and +26% among adults 18-34 in its timeslot, according to Nielsen.

Fueled by the Preso No. 1 premiere, Telemundo solidified its position as the leading Spanish-language network in prime-time television, among adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and total viewers.

Locally, the premiere episode ranked as the #1 program regardless of language in the hour among adults 18-49, in top Hispanic markets, including Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Houston and Dallas.

On the day of the premiere, the series also generated 54,000 global actions across all social platform (Facebook, Instagram & Twitter) and 212,000 social views (FB, IG), according to Shareablee.

Starring Erik Hayser, the political-drama centers around Carmelo Alvarado (Hayser,) a man of humble origins and firm values who, thanks to his charisma and intelligence, ends up becoming the president of Mexico.

Carmelo is falsely accused of a millionaire fraud that leads to his incarceration, causing a media frenzy and an uproar in the country. However, Carmelo will not go down without fighting back against the corrupt system behind this scheme and clearing his name for the sake of his country and his family.

A Telemundo Global Studios production, Preso No. 1 was co-developed with Keshet International (creators of the hit series Prisoners of War upon which Homeland is based).

The series was written by Luis Felipe Ybarra, directed by Pitipol Ybarra, Javier Patron Fox and Javier Solas, with Marcos Santana, Mariana Iskandarani and Marcel Ferrer as executive producers for Telemundo with Dror Mishani and Shira Hadad, Avi Nir, Karni Ziv and Kelly Wright as executive producers for Keshet International.
