The drama series created by and starring Leticia Dolera posted strong audience figures in its Catalonia premiere and continues expanding internationally through Beta Film.

The Spanish series Pubertat – Secrets, Lies, and Human Castles premiered successfully on Catalan public broadcaster 3Cat, where its first two episodes achieved audience shares of 15% and 14.6%, respectively, averaging 255,000 viewers in Catalonia.

According to Beta Film, the production outperformed other strong-performing programs in the same time slot, which posted shares of 9% and 8.2%.

The local launch follows a string of international recognitions and distribution deals for the series. Beta Film recently closed sales with ARTE for France and Germany, as well as with SWR in Germany.

Set within the world of Catalonia’s traditional human towers, the series explores relationships between parents and teenage children and the possibility of rebuilding family bonds. The production is led by Distinto Films, Corte y Confección de Películas, Uri Films, Altres Films and AT-Prod, in coproduction with 3Cat and with the participation of HBO Max Spain.

Pubertat was presented at the San Sebastián International Film Festival and won the Ondas Award for Best Spanish Series. It also received nominations at Prix Europa, the Forqué Awards and the Feroz Awards, where it competed in the categories of Best Drama Series and Best Supporting Actress for Betsy Túrnez.

In March, the fiction series was also nominated for the ALMA Awards, presented by Spain’s screenwriters’ guild, in the category of Best Drama Series Screenplay.

Beta Film handles international distribution for the series.
