The next edition of the most important B2B event in the sports industry has made multiple commitments to be carbon neutral and zero waste.

Sports Summit, the most important B2B congress of the Latin American sports industry, and Join The Planet, the international movement that seeks to promote innovation and collaboration in sustainability, signed an agreement of understanding and collaboration ahead of the new Sports Summit editions in 2024.

Starting with Sports Summit São Paulo 2024, which has already taken multiple measures to become a carbon-neutral and zero-waste event, such as the recently announced partnership with Polen to use blockchain technology.

The event in Brazil, and in the rest of the countries where it will be held, has committed to protecting the environment, sustainability, proper management of solid waste in the way it is being managed and ESG guidelines, as well as with spreading this message and the awareness of the people and institutions participating in the event.

Because of this, the international event aligns with Join The Planet’s mission which, in the midst of global concern about climate change, stands out as a beacon of inspiration and determination. The initiative’s mission is to promote collaboration plans between artists, celebrities and the community to develop initiatives and content for companies committed to caring for the environment.

In December 2023, Join The Planet announced an alliance with Argentine star Lionel Messi, who has become its international ambassador. As an ambassador for the cause, Messi uses his global influence to spread the message of Join The Planet and promote action in the fight against climate change.

The agreement closed between Sports Summit and Join The Planet will encourage both parties to coordinate “efforts to establish paths of action that favor and increase mutual benefit”, with a protocol that includes, among other initiatives, actions, promotions and management of both parties.

Sports Summit São Paulo 2024 will take place from May 7 to 9 at the Pacaembú Stadium Convention and Events Center. While Sports Summit México will take place on July 3 and 4 at the Citibanamex Center in CDMX. And Sports Summit Argentina will take place in the month of November, on the 12th and 13th at the Usina del Arte in the city of Buenos Aires.

The event will once again bring together some of the most important executives in the industry – from different confederations, leagues and clubs – along with renowned sports personalities and technology companies, among others, to discuss the latest in innovation, digital transformation, fan engagement, sustainability, e-Sports, artificial intelligence and women’s sports, among other relevant topics in the sports industry.
