France Télévisions has ordered both a daily and prime-time version of the quiz show format, which will be produced by Satisfaction Group.

Talpa’s brand-new quiz show, The Floor, has found its first major broadcast commission outside the Netherlands as France Télévisions has ordered both a daily and prime-time version. The show will be produced by Satisfaction Group, Talpa’s esteemed production partner in France and is set to air in July 2023.

The Floor is currently airing on RTL4 in the Netherlands and is receiving great reviews. The first four episodes scored an impressive 22% average market share in the key 20-49 demo, beating the slot average. On the local #1 SVOD platform Videoland, which has a second window, The Floor is the most-watched entertainment show. More commissions are expected soon as the show continues to attract international interest. In 2022, Eureka Productions teamed up with Talpa to bring The Floor to the U.S.

Arthur Essebag, Satisfaction’s CEO, says: “We are very proud to bring to France Télévisions’ audiences this new innovative quiz show. We produce other strong gameshows on France Télévisions and are confident that The Floor as a stripped program will offer the French viewers a new game experience with a strong play-along. ”

Sebastian van Barneveld, Talpa’s Director of International Distribution: “I’m thrilled that Satisfaction Group will be the first to bring The Floor, both the daily and weekly versions, to the screens in France. This format ticks all the boxes; it’s fun to watch, very scalable, and visually attractive with an iconic set.”

In The Floor, 100 quiz fanatics face off in quiz duels on a giant LED floor divided into one hundred equal squares, each representing its own field of knowledge. The goal is to conquer the entire floor and take home a huge cash prize. The rules are simple. A random contestant challenges an adjoining opponent in a quiz duel, and they play against each other in the category of the opponent’s square. Categories range from ‘famous athletes’ to ‘Hollywood actors’ and from ‘iconic buildings’ to ‘mammals’. All questions are visually supported by photographs. The winner of a duel conquers his opponent’s square, gaining more ground – the loser leaves the game. The further the game progresses, the more exciting the duels become and the higher the stakes… After eight episodes, who will be the last person standing on The Floor, winning 100.000 euros?

The Floor is a Talpa Concepts format distributed by Talpa Distribution.
