Bavaria Fiction’s Development Division will restructure in 2024, starting with the appointment of a new director.

Bavaria Fiction announces the start of the restructuring of its Development Division, with the appointment of Thomas Kren as its new director, who will report to Marcus Ammon, Chief Content Officer. With this reorganization, Kren will expand the area of responsibility to accelerate and coordinate conversations with broadcasters and creatives.

Bavaria Fiction aims to develop more co-productions and evaluate the corresponding material centrally.

Regarding his appointment, Kren said he looks forward to his new responsibilities and working more closely with his colleagues. “Bavaria Fiction’s wealth of experience shows that we can successfully serve many formats and genres, from Feelgood to High-End, and adapt to the changing habits and needs of viewers,” he said.

Marcus Ammon, Bavaria Fiction’s Chief Content Officer, said that with Thomas, they are establishing a central development leader within Bavaria Fiction. “His understanding of dramaturgy and content expertise make him the perfect sparring partner at eye level with our executive producers,” he said.

Thomas Kren has been with Bavaria Fiction since 2021 when he initially focused on the development of high-end streaming projects and the management and execution of writers’ rooms as a creative producer. Born in Austria, he has over ten years of experience as a screenwriter, playwright, and producer.

From 2016 to 2022, Thomas headed the editing department of the Local Fiction Division of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE and analyzed numerous films, series, and cinema projects during this time. As an editor, he was responsible for the successful novel adaptations of several German thriller series, including Todesfrist and Todesurteil, and as a creative producer for the return to film Der letzte Bulle for SevenPictures.

Thomas Kren is a member of the Association of Dramaturgy for Film and Television and a graduate of the University of Film and Television Munich (HFF). His professional activities focus on creative production, script consulting, and talent scouting.
