Chilevisión will be led by Juan «JC» Acosta, President of ViacomCBS International Studios & Networks Americas.

ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI), a division of ViacomCBS, announced today the closing of the process for the previously announced acquisition of Chilevisión from WarnerMedia, a division of AT&T.

The acquisition includes the leading broadcast TV network, Chilevisión, which is currently the most watched television channel in Chile so far this year, with an average of 8.3 home rating points and the highest growth, +11% home rating, compared to 2020, according to Kantar Ibope data.

The agreement also includes Chilevisión’s large content portfolio that spans multiple genres, including sports, entertainment and news, as well as its vast production capacity.

These attributes, added to Chilevisión’s reach and a strategy of selling its content through various free, paid and premium channels, will serve as a valuable marketing vehicle for the entire ViacomCBS ecosystem in Spanish and will expand the company’s presence in the studio, streaming and linear businesses in the region.

“Our investment in Chilevisión strategically expands ViacomCBS’ global ecosystem, strengthening our position as a leading producer of Spanish-language content,” said Raffaele Annecchino, President & CEO of ViacomCBS Networks International.

“As our streaming services grow rapidly around the world, we have seen the power of our free-to-air channels such as Telefe in Argentina, Network 10 in Australia and Channel 5 in the UK to strengthen Paramount+ and Pluto TV. Our diversified ecosystem, spanning all platforms and prices, is what continues to differentiate ViacomCBS in the streaming landscape, as we add subscribers through our platforms and connect audiences with more original premium content.”

Chilevisión will be led by Juan «JC» Acosta, President of ViacomCBS International Studios & Networks Americas. Additional leadership appointments will be made soon.

The details and financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
