The format will premiere on ViX.

VICE Studios is in production with its first-ever format series Lucha de Antojos (Street Chefs), which will air on ViX the Spanish-language streaming service.

Lucha de Antojos focuses on eight high-end chefs forced to ditch their luxurious and industrial kitchens and cook in street carts on the streets of Mexico, where they’ll have to cook for the masses, who will then pick who’s the best street food cook.

In every episode of Lucha de Antojos we’ll be cooking from the most scenic spots in Mexico City, featuring an iconic street dish and celebrating the authentic Mexican street chefs that have made a name for themselves. We will not only find out who is the best chef among the eight, but we will also find out what the street really prefers, the tradition and flavors of the street chefs or the technique and knowledge of the chefs. Ultimately “Lucha de Antojos” is not just a culinary competition; it’s a celebration of Mexico’s rich street food culture and the chefs who keep it alive.

Edgar Jaramillo, VICE Studios’ senior director of Unscripted Series, said: “I am excited to announce Lucha de Antojos as VICE Studios’ first original format. Bringing this project to life has been a dream come true, and it wouldn’t have been possible without our partners at ViX. This show is a celebration of the people, culture and vibrant flavors that define Mexico. This culinary battle, where top chefs vie for the throne of Mexican street food, embodies the innovation and creativity that we at VICE Studios are proud to bring to the screen. It’s a taste of Mexico like never before.”

The series is hosted by, actor, entrepreneur, and food influencer Andres de Oliveira, and stars renowned chefs Anna Ruiz, Alexis Ayala, Alexander Suastegui, Chris Dommit, Diego Nino, Emmanuel Prieto, Josefina Lopez and Mariano Torre Hutt.
