The studio will begin filming the biopic alongside Shine Iberia, Elefantec Global and Legacy Rock in 2022.
VIS, a division of ViacomCBS, announced today that it has greenlit Bosé, a biopic based on the life of Spanish singer-songwriter Miguel Bosé, that will be produced in collaboration with Shine Iberia (Banijay Iberia), Elefantec Global and Legacy Rock. The premium series will be a Paramount+ original for international audiences. Production of the series will begin in early 2022 in Spain.
“We are extremely excited to show the world the incredible and eclectic life of musical legend Miguel Bosé,” said JC Acosta, President ViacomCBS International Studios & Network Americas. “We hope this production invokes the same emotions as Bosé’s music and engages our global audiences on Paramount+.”
“After many years recovering memories and just as much writing, I can announce that the first season of my life is finally about to come,” said Miguel Bosé. “Thanks to Shine Iberia’s Head Producer and the team of scriptwriters for giving shape to this project. Thanks to Elefantec and Legacy Rock for their vision and tenacity. And of course, thanks to the people of ViacomCBS and Paramount+ for their enthusiasm. It is because of you that this dream has come true and seen the light. We joined forces to give beauty to a life and a career that are already imprinted in so many memories. We are on our way, and I’m sure it will touch everyone because you all helped form and mold me into what I’ve been, what I am, and all that I may become in the future, all responsible for that. Thank you for such a great privilege.”
“We are very grateful to Miguel Bosé for the generosity and truthfulness with which he has shared his fascinating life with us and to ViacomCBS for their support and trust,” added Macarena Rey, CEO at Shine Iberia. “It is a different kind of biopic that will undoubtedly thrill viewers around the world.”
“We continue to work towards our vision of creating Latin content for the world. We are preparing premium series around the biggest stars in the Hispanic space, and Bosé is undoubtedly an icon of Latino pop culture,” stated Jose Baston, Co-Founder Elefantec Global. “Now is the time to tell his amazing story, which is perfectly aligned with our strategy to continue to bring important stories to the screen that enhance the Latin culture and significance around the globe.”
The Bosé series will portray the incredible life of an artist with an unique and highly recognizable personality. The six-episode series will be a rare piece of art in and of itself, transporting viewers to different parts of the singer-songwriter’s career that began in the late 1970s, revealing the stories behind the inspiration, composition, and recording of some of his most iconic hits and how this success affected his personal life.
International superstar Miguel Bosé has been a force in Latin music, picking up dozens of awards for his legendary music. His resonant, signature baritone has helmed records in a remarkable variety of styles, from teen pop, disco, new wave, and post-punk to the mainstream, art rock, and dance-pop. His recordings have rocketed to no less than 45 Top 50 Singles — including ten #1s — in six countries; his hit single Linda (featuring Malu) topped the charts in three countries simultaneously, followed by his own number one solo version a month later. In 2007, he released the album Papito, which included a collaboration of Latin music icons—including Juanes, Ricky Martin, and Laura Pausini – to re-record duet versions of some of his biggest hits. In 2013, he was honored by the Latin Recording Academy® as Person of the Year, and his MTV Unplugged set became number one in both Spain and Mexico in 2016. Recently, the musical icon was featured as a Coach on La Voz in Mexico.
