The film will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

ViX, the world’s leading Spanish-language streaming service, announced today that El sabor de la Navidad (A Merry Mexican Christmas, working title), the second original movie under the first-look deal between TelevisaUnivision and Salma Hayek Pinault’s Ventanarosa Productions will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, as part of its special presentations program. The film will premiere at the prestigious festival on September 13 and will be available on ViX in November.

El sabor de la Navidad features three parallel stories revolving around Mexico City’s Christmas celebrations intertwine in the film’s finale. In the first story, an estranged daughter seeks reconciliation with her family. In the second, two friends put their friendship to the test when they start working as competing Santa Clauses in Alameda Central Park. In the third, a lonely chef that cooks Christmas dinners for other families confronts her feelings for her kitchen assistant.

Mariana Treviño (A Man Called Otto, House of Flowers) Andrés Almeida (Y tu mamá también, Ana, The Three Wise Kings vs. Santa), Armando Hernández (Blood of My Blood, Amar te Duele [Love Hurts]), Juan Carlos Medellín (Whiskey Cavellier, El Colapso [The Collapse]), Mónica Dionne (The Arrival, The Wind of Fear) and Marco Treviño (Narcos: Mexico, Danyka) star in the Christmas romantic comedy film.

Produced by Salma Hayek Pinault and Jose Tamez under their Ventanarosa Productions banner along with Erica Sánchez from Lemon Studios, El sabor de la Navidad is directed by Alejandro Lozano and written by Tamez.

Currently available on ViX, Quiero tu vida was the first original movie that premiered on the streaming service under the agreement with Ventanarosa Productions to produce Spanish-language feature films exclusively for ViX.
