Always active in international markets, Globo arrived at Content Americas with an agenda full of activities for attendees in Miami.

After the panel offered yesterday by Pablo Ghiglione and Guga Valente, the group offered an Upfront to present the main bets for the coming years, including telenoelas, Globoplay originals and more.

“This time we did it differently,” Angela Colla, Globo’s Director of International Business and Co-productions, told ttvnews. “We always have a breakfast at Natpe and then we presented each content to the market with its trailers. This year we did it differently, because we did not have trailers, the intention was not to sell content. It was to position Globo in the way we want to be positioned, as we are currently, in Brazil, a producer and distributor of a very varied portfolio of content.”

“When we look at what we do in Brazil, we make content for broadcast TV, paid channels and a very strong streaming platform, the second most viewed in Brazil and the first Brazilian. We have a very broad portfolio of content. And in addition to finished titles, we are very open and we are presenting ourselves to the market for new business models,” she added.

This new business model involves opening Brazil’s borders and building bridges with international partners, in order to adapt to the current reality of the industry.

“Globo historically always had a position of doing everything alone, because we were in a situation where it was possible. But today in the world it is no longer possible and borders are more flexible thanks to digital. We must think about doing things together to have more exposure, to have shared risks, and do something that is better for all parties,” Colla explained.

On Monday night, the group received recognition during the Rose d’Or Latinos gala, where their title Todos las Flores won best telenovela.

And today, Globo celebrated the preview of its new original production, Justicia: Mala Conducta, the series by Manuela Díaz that brings four new stories and the same format as the first season.

“We are very excited about the Justicia series,” said the executive. “This is the second time we have brought it to the market. The first season was in 2016 and it was very successful for us in Brazil and the international market.”

“Justicia 2 is not a continuation, but it does have the very innovative format of Justicia, which is four different stories of crimes of people who go to prison and come out seven years later, and those stories intersect. It is a very innovative format with very strong stories,” he added.

The series will premiere in Brazil on Globoplay in April of this year and will then be available for purchase by the international market. “Very excited because we know it will be a great success in Brazil and we hope it will also be a great success for the international market,” concluded the executive.
