The director of the Latam division of Transperfect Media spoke with ttvnews in Miami about how the company offers a personalize service, while maintaining the level of quality that the support and resources of the international group can give.

Accompanying the changes in the models of sale and acquisition of content in the entertainment industry, dubbing and subtitling companies have had to know how to adapt to new demands from their clients and partners when it comes to localizing productions.
“Traditionally, in content sales and acquisitions, the buyer is generally the one who dubs or localizes the content. That is changing. Sometimes it is the seller who does it, or the buyer demands the seller for the already dubbed content,” began in a conversation with ttvnews Javier Gore, director of the Latam division of Transperfect Media, from Natpe Global in Miami.
“What’s interesting for us is getting to know people, understanding what they need and being available. It’s increasingly flexible. There’s also a lot of exchange for revenue share. It’s a matter of being open to conversation,” he explained.
In this sense, Transperfect has a very personalized approach to working with its clients, one that they achieve due to the particularity of how the company is formed.
“In our case, what sets us apart is that it’s a multinational company, made up of studios that were bought around the world. That’s good because we are the studio directors that are now part of a huge network. We have technology, tools, financial backing and we can fit in with large companies, but at the same time each one runs their studio in the traditional way,” said Gore. “It’s a boutique and personalized experience, with the backing of a multinational. That makes us unique.”
“We have a pool of talents, creative directors, exclusive translators. We are very hands-on in each project, in a very committed way,” he added.
This talent is something that the group works on in a sustained manner, explained the executive. “We work actively on talent development. Something happened a few years ago in Argentina, with the Argentine Chamber of Audiovisual Localization, where we are constantly working and looking for ways to train better professionals, bring in professionals from outside, identifying the weak points we have as a group and improving them.”
And another resource they use at Transperfect is one that is much feared and debated in the dubbing industry in general: artificial intelligence. “AI is sometimes seen as a fantasy, but we have used it for years in different ways. We can do full translations with AI, morph voices, text-to-speech… We can go from 100% human to 100% automatic with AI. What’s ideal is to have a technician who speaks the language you want to translate into. Quality control is always needed. We have technicians trained in the tool. It is self-developed. The client’s content does not go to anyone’s cloud, it is totally private.”
