In the last edition of Mipcancun, Mistco announced the premiere of Melek, A Mother’s Struggle in Colombia. And building on that path, the Turkish distributor arrived this week at Content Americas with more positive news for the title in the Latin American country.

“We are happy to announce some sales that we have had recently, especially for Melek, which has done very well in Colombia,” Maria Espino, Sales Director for Latin America and Iberia at Mistco, told ttvnews in Miami.

“It was our first title in the territory and now it will continue with its second season,” she revealed.

In addition to this success in Colombia, Melek continues to conquer other territories in the region. “And Melek has also done incredibly well in Paraguay, where Secrets of an Angel will soon be released, another title in which we believe a lot because it touches on very important topics,” said the executive.

“I think Melek has done very well because it is a typical traditional Turkish drama, a very clean drama that tells the story of a woman who is sick with cancer and has three children, and the only thing she thinks about is how she is going to protect them. She returns to seek forgiveness from her father to leave her children with her family. It is a very beautiful soap opera that also brings a very nice love story of Melek with a love from the past, and I think that is why it is working very well in Latam,” she explained.

Espino also highlighted the success of Town Doctor in Latam, where it will soon premiere on Latina TV. “We are very excited about it and that this series continues to expand,” she said.

Finally, the executive highlighted the premiere of The Innocents in Puerto Rico. “The Innocents has been our hit for a couple of years. It has finally premiered on Wapa TV. It’s great for the drama to have the attention it deserves and more territories will follow in Latam.”

“In fact, we have sold it to six or seven more territories. We are waiting for it to premiere and see how it goes,” she revealed.
