Rio Shore will have 12 one-hour episodes and will be produced by VIS Americas and Endemol Shine, to premiere as a Paramount+ original in the second half of 2021.

After the premiere of the most recent season of Acapulco Shore, which broke audience records, Paramount+ and MTV confirm the expansion of the Shore franchise to Brazil.

Rio Shore will be filmed in Rio de Janeiro, one of the most popular destinations for young people in Brazil and one of the most captivating and fashionable cities in the world.

Rio Shore will follow a group of ten young people from different parts of the state of Rio de Janeiro, who will come together to experience a season full of parties, romance, friendships and, of course, the drama that results from living together. They will have the opportunity to leave their lives for a moment, live life to the fullest and spend the vacations of their lives that they never imagined.

The reality show will consist of 12 one-hour episodes and will be produced by VIS Americas and Endemol Shine. An original Paramount+, Rio Shore debuts in the second half of 2021.

The Shore franchise is one of the most successful MTV original formats in the world. Jersey Shore started the revolution in the United States 2009, which generated local versions in Mexico (Acapulco Shore), Poland, (Warsaw Shore), Spain (Gandía Shore), United Kingdom (Geordie Shore), an international version (Super Shore) and the Newer US version (Floribama Shore).

“In Latin America, when we think of the beach, sun and parties, we think of Rio de Janeiro. I am very happy that Rio de Janeiro is the host city for the new version of the Shore franchise,” said Tiago Worcman, Senior VP of Youth & Entertainment Brands for ViacomCBS Networks Americas.

According to Worcman, the eighth season of Acapulco Shore, which premiered in Latin America in April, established itself as the # 1 show on television, social media and streaming. “Reality shows are some of the most demanded content in Brazil and the rest of the region, so we are ready to revive the Shore franchise and deliver an incredible and entertaining season,” he concluded.

Marco Nobili, Senior VP of Marketing for the Streaming Division at ViacomCBS Networks International, added: “The audience success on Paramount + of MTV’s Shore franchises and the recent excellent results from Acapulco Shore, which managed to be one of the most viewed content on the platform, lead us to open a new chapter in Brazil”.

The Rio Shore recordings will follow strict hygiene and health protocols for COVID-19. VIS constantly tests all participants, production personnel and staff and everyone involved goes through a quarantine period.
