Darío Madrona, creator of the Netflix series, will be the showrunner of One of Us Is Lying, the NBCUniversal platform’s new original series.

After the success of series like Money Heist on the international market, Spain has become a benchmark in audiovisual production.

Thus, it is not surprising that Peacock, NBCUniversal’s new streaming platform in the US, has signed a Spanish creator for its next original series.

Darío Madrona, creator of the Spanish Netflix hit Elite, will be the showrunner for One of Us Is Lying, the television adaptation of the novel by Karen M. McManus.

After filming the first episode in early 2020, written by Erica Saleh and directed by Jennifer Morrison, the series has received the green light for a full eight-episode first season.

It tells the story of five high school students who are held in the punishment room. One of the teenagers dies and his classmates become suspects in his murder.

It stars Marianly Tejada (The Purge), Cooper van Grootel (Go!), Annalisa Cochrane (Into the Dark: Pure), Melissa Collazo (Swamp Thing), Chibuikem Uche (Ghost Draft), Jessica McLeod (You Me Her) and Barrett Carnahan (Grown-ish), among others.
