TTV+ Buyers: What Are They Looking For?

Ahead of Mipcom 2021, Adrián Ortega Echegollén, VP, Azteca 7, Acquisitions, Promotion and Image, spoke to TTV+ about the content he’s looking for in the international market.

TTVMedia, through its TTV+ platform and backed by Eccho Rights, presents its Buyers: What Are They Looking For? initiative to find out more about international buyers’ programming needs.

The interviews were conducted through the base of over 5,000 buyers registered on TTV+, a 24/7 online marketplace where buyers can look through catalogs from thousands of companies, and in which distributors can contact them to close businesses.

This time, we present Adrián Ortega Echegollén, VP, Azteca 7, Acquisitions, Promotion and Image.

What type of content are you looking for?

Because of the pandemic, I feel like the industry halted production and it’s not like in previous times when content was overflowing. We are now being more selective, looking for something entertaining, fun and specific.

We are looking for content that’s ready and good, nice and cheap. We’re not like in other years, where in four months you’d have a product ready. So we’re being selective and looking back, analyzing things from everyone, globally.

Are you looking for any specific genre?

Action. It would be fiction and especially action. Crime, medical, that’s mostly what we look for. We’re also producing our own products so we also have those and balance it out.

Are you producing anything in particular?

We recently premiered Cazatesoros and there is also Un día para vivir, a fiction that talks about death. They are standalone series and a great product. We are going in that direction.

Is there any specific title that you’d like to highlight?

Our crime series from the US are great. They work very well. We had the premiere of The Good Doctor, season three. The premiere of SWAT, season three. Hawaii 5.0, the premiere, also worked well. We have all the new seasons of FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, the spinoff, seasons 1, 2, and 3. Those worked well. And obviously the deal with Disney and their movies, which are monumental, Pixar, Marvel, Disney Animation, all of them worked very well.
