From Monday, October 12 through to Friday, October 16, Mipcom Online+ has been taking place virtually for attendees from all over the world.

Day 1

1 – 6,000 participants

According to the Mipcom Online+ organization, the virtual event will welcome over 6,000 participants from 100 countries. Full story.

2 – Endemol Shine Boomdog announces alliance with Touché Films

They will co-develop contents for Enchufe.tv both in terms of fiction and non-fiction programming.

3 – Madd Entertainment launched 5 new titles at Mipcom Online+ 5

The list includes A Woman Scorned, Abandoned, Flames of Fate, Love is in the Air and The Agency. Full story.

4 – The Wit presents Fresh TV Formats selection

The selection features titles from Spain: Beta Entertainment Spain’s cooking show, Monster Kitchen; and The Flat by Mediterraneo. Full story.

5 – Christian Vesper, promoted to president of Global Drama at Fremantle

He will take over for Sarah Doole, who left the company last month. Full story.

6 – Jaque Content and Grupo Black Panther announce alliance

They will co-develop fiction series for Spain, LatAm and US Hispanic.

Day 2

1 – The Wit revealed its Fresh TV Fiction selection

Hispanic content was represented by Veneno (Spain), End (Brazil) and Armas de mujer (US Hispanic). Turkey also made the cut: The Red Room (Eccho Rights), The Agency (Madd Entertainment) and Interrupted (Inter Medya). Read more.

2 – K7 Media offered its Top 5 Korean formats

The chosen ones were: Cash Back (CJ EMN), The Giving Quiz, Deliver Today! (SBS), Oh! My Partner (MBC), Star’s Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant (KBS Media) and Heart Signal (Channel A). Read more.

3 – Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netllix, provided one of the most anticipated keynotes

The executive justified Netflix’s cancellation strategy. For the OTT, longevity is an “old-fashioned measure of success.”

4 – Beta Film announced multiple sales for Tell Me Who Am I

The Movistar+ and Telemundo series was acquired in Norway, Denmark, Finland, Portugal, Greece and Cyprus. Read more.

5 – ViacomCBS International Studios announced its first animated series.

VIS joins the animated preschool series Gloria Wants to Know It All, a project by Magnus Studios, Mundoloco Animation Studios and Lanugo Media. Read more.

6 – Madd sells the Turkish version of The Good Doctor in Spain and LatAm

The Turkish distributor announced sales for A Miracle in Spain, Uruguay, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Estonia, Pakistan, India, Israel and South Africa. Read more.

7 – Dori Media’s Shepherd, sold to Poland and Hungary

Dori Media Group announced that it has sold the Russian series Shepherd to WP TV in Poland and RTL in Hungary.

Day 3

1 – All3media International announced pre-sales for Roadkill

The series was acquired by HBO in Central and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia and Portugal; in Australia by ABC and in Spain by Movistar+. Read more.

2 – Cineflix Rights closed several sales for Icelandic drama The Minister

The drama was acquired by SBS in Australia, AMC Networks for Southern Europe and TVO in Canada. Read more.

3 – Studiocanal announced the sale of Possessions to HBO Max

The European producer and distributor announced the sale of its psychological thriller Possessions to HBO Max, which will be seen internationally as a Max Original.

4 – HBO Max also acquired the series Adult Material, from Banijay Rights

The four-part drama, produced by Banijay’s Fifty Fathoms for Channel 4 in the UK, will be available on the WarnerMedia streaming platform in December. Read more.

5 – 2020 Buyers’ Awards for Japanese drama winners announced

This year’s award winners, featuring and promoting buyer-selected Japanese content at Mipcom, were TV Tokyo’s Harrasment Games (Grand Prix) and Kansai TV’s The Secrets (Honorable Mention). Read more.

6 – John de Mol presents his new formats at Mipcom

They are Split Screen and Hit the Road, both premiered on SBS6 in the Netherlands. Read more.

7 – Korean Boom: Top 5 Scripted Formats

After its Top 5 entertainment formats were revealed, 7K Media presented at Mipcom Online+ the five most striking series of the season from South Korea. Read more.

Day 4

1 – Canneseries winners announced

Sweden’s Partisan (Viaplay) was the big winner, while Argentine series Broder stood out as the best short-form series. Read more.

2 – GMA Network sold Descendants of the Sun to Netflix

It is the Philippine adaptation of the Korean series of the same name. Read more.

3 – SPT acquired the adaptation rights to Doc – Nelle Tue Mani

The Italian series will thus have a version in the US.

4 – Atresmedia acquired A Miracle, the Turkish version of The Good Doctor
